Comparative success of therapy with proton pump inhibitors and H2 receptor antagonists. Data show the effects of a proton pump inhibitor (given once daily) and an H2 receptor antagonist (given twice daily) in elevating gastric pH to the target ranges (i.e., pH 3 for duodenal ulcer, pH 4 for GERD, and pH 5 for antibiotic eradication of H. pylori).
