3 The Key To Success Preparation! What is the purpose for the meeting?
What action do you want your staff to take? Will people be motivated and perform better after the meeting? Ask yourself, “Is this meeting really necessary?” “Could the objectives of the meeting be accomplished just as effectively by talking with staff members on an individual basis?”

4 Setting and Communicating the Agenda
ALWAYS have a written and detailed agenda Everyone has a copy of the agenda during the meeting Prioritize the agenda

6 Define Participant Roles
Who should attend the meeting? Time Keeper Time limits set and kept Teacher Moderator Scribe Off agenda (to do list)

7 Parking Lot When focus is threatened add the topic to the “parking lot” Acknowledges and validates Should be visible for everyone to see Make people accountable “This is interesting but can you help me understand how it relates to the agenda item we’re discussing?”

11 Wrap It Up Schedule the meeting to end 15 minutes before the practice opens People should leave the meeting with a clear sense of direction Do they know what is expected of them? Do they know who to report to? Do they know the goals and deadlines? Plan the follow up – who, what how If the meeting is important enough to have then it’s important to follow up
