4 Proposal to change the present MIH Packet Format
Use fixed header instead of variable header to avoid scheduling problems Locate variable MIH Func. Destination/Source Identifier before MIH Message data Change MIH Function Identifier Length from 4 octets to 1 octet Unusual that MIH Function ID Length value > 255 Examples: MAC address = 6, IPv4 = 4, IPv6 = 16 Change Transaction ID from 1 octet to 4 octets Transactions IDs do have a value greater than 255 Examples: IP - packet ID = 2 bytes; TCP - sequence no. = 4 bytes

5 New MIH General Packet Format
Fixed 1 2 Variable Interchange Transaction ID and MIH Function ID Length positions Provides enough space for the respective identifiers Interchange MIH Function Identifiers with MIH Message ID Leads to fixed message header and variable payload  No impact on the existing functionality
