1 The Cell Cycle

2 Interphase G1 Phase: Cell grows S Phase: DNA is replicated
G2 Phase: other organelles and materials GET made for division

3 M-Phase Mitosis: when the nucleus divides
Cytokinesis: when the whole cell divides into two.

4 Mitosis Prophase Metaphase Anaphase Telophase

5 Prophase Chromatin condenses to form chromosomes
Centrioles move toward ends of cell Nuclear envelope disappears Spindle begins to form

6 Metaphase Chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell

7 Anaphase Sister chromatids are split apart and move apart toward opposite sides

8 Telophase Chromosomes gather at opposite ends
Two new nuclear envelopes form

9 Cytokinesis The cytoplasm and cell splits apart into two new cells
