13 Pasture Management and Use Plan as a tool for sustainable and ecologically balanced use of the available natural pasture resources In order to create a methodological framework for the development of Management Plans, together with the Research Institute of Livestock and Pasture (RILP), experts from Switzerland with the support of the International Consultant developed Pasture Assessment Methodology for Specialists, Pasture Assessment Methodology at the level of PUAs and the Pasture Assessment Guide. Phase I (2010) resulted in the development of the Manual on the Preparation of the Pasture Use Preliminary Plan. During the next phase ( ), Project Implementation Assistance Unit (PIAU) of the Pasture Department, international consultants, the Swiss partner organization “Agroskop-Shonzha” and RILP experts developed the Guidelines for Communities on Drawing Up Pasture Management Plans which included sections related to the medium-term planning. During 2013, Pasture Management Plans were implemented in the field. This work was done with the assistance of PIAU and implied a series of activities involving local JCs. At the end of the year, experts monitored the work of jayit committees and checked the availability of Pasture Management Plans.
