1. The age distribution of knee disorders is given schematically as a function of age. Blount's ds, tibia vara; OA, osteoarthrosis; P-F ds, patellofemoral arthralgia. Meniscal tears can be either medial or lateral and are traumatic in the younger age group and degenerative in the older age group. Osteoarthrosis shows an earlier onset with the knee than with the hip because there is an incidence of medial gonarthrosis in the 40s and 50s caused by medial meniscectomy in the late teens and early 20s.
