5. Javanese used to have to walk 3 km going up and down a steep hill to collect 20 litres of water everyday!
It’s very tough, especially when you are 62.

7. The Kigezi Diocese began a project to bring water to the village.
Javanese helped organise the work and was given training on water safety and good hygiene.

8. Today the village has a tap stand supplying clean water.
Javanese is still involved, making sure the system is properly maintained.

9. ‘Thank you so much for helping us to see this water project realised - something we thought would not be possible. But we believed in God, who makes all things possible. We pray for a blessing upon you.’

Then two years ago, Diocese of Kigezi’s water and sanitation program began a project to bring water to the village. Javanese was part of the committee who organised the work. She was given lots of training around water safety and hygiene.
Today the village has a communal tap with clean water, Javanese is still involved, making sure the system is properly maintained.
