Status AI 1.18 (WRC15) CEPT status Nothing has changed since the ECP in 2011 for the WRC 12 There was and is an unanimously intention of CEPT to allocate the frequency band – 78.0 GHz for the RLS to support automotive short-range high-resolution radar operations. Regulatory framework in CEPT based on: In 2001 ECC amended ECC/DEC/(02)01 “.. on the frequency bands to be designated for the co-ordinated introduction of Road Transport and Traffic Telematic Systems” (RTTT) in which the frequency band 76.0 to 77.0 GHz is designated for vehicular radars. ECC/DEC/(04)03 of 19 March 2004 on the frequency band 77 – 81 GHz to be designated for the use of Automotive Short Range Radars This concludes in ERC-REC 70-03 (ANNEX 5: ROAD TRANSPORT AND TRAFFIC TELEMATICS (RTTT)) H. Status AI 1.18 (WRC15) Few irritations which have to be clarified to avoid more of them in the future: During WP5B in November 12 few items were mentioned by one administration dealing with applications in the 76.0 – 77.0 GHz range: Fixed installations (Navtech) and airborn based radar (Eurocopter) The usage of these applications may lead to regulatory framework activities on regional or national level as it is today. These applications (and not known once perhaps in the future) do not have any relation to AI1.18 (77.5 – 78.0 GHz for RLS) H. Dunger | © Robert Bosch GmbH . Status AI 1.18 (WRC15) No LS reply from WP5A to WP5C with regard to FS Document 5A/198-E Annex 3 to Working Party 5A Chairman’s Report (Nov 12, Geneva) Working Group 5A-5 also considered a reply liaison statement to WP 5C. This document intends to reply to the liaison statement (Document 5A/76) from WP 5C seeking guidance on technical and operating characteristics of automotive radars for the bands GHz and GHz. However, WG 5A-5 decided not to send a reply liaison statement to WP 5C in this meeting, since WG 5A-5 expects an additional liaison statement from WP 5C. This liaison statement will be considered at the next WP 5A meeting in May 2013. The meeting decided to maintain the work plan for WRC-15 Agenda item 1.18 (Document 5A/79 (Annex 9) (WP 5A Chairman)). Status AI 1.18 (WRC15) LS from WP3M to WP5B on propagation model Liaison statement to Working Party 5B on propagation methods for the calculation of the target detection distance of AUTOMOTIVE RADARS in the GHz band (Document 5B/75-E) as a response on the LS from 5B to 3M asking for a automotive scenario related propagation model. Result: no model available or visible. It is up to 5B to find an adequate consideration of the scenario. Contributions from automotive industry required which are operating systems already on 76 – 77 GHz on a worldwide basis. H. Dunger | © Robert Bosch GmbH . Status AI 1.18 (WRC15) Document 5B/90-E, LS from WP7D (RAS) to WP5B …… When carrying out sharing studies with regard to the above mentioned ITU-R Recommendations and Reports, Working Party 5B should consider that there are about 20 radio astronomy stations around the world operating in this frequency range. Some radio astronomy stations are at exposed locations and therefore much more vulnerable to radio interference than sites located in more shielded areas due to topography and vegetation. …….. From chairman's report WP7D, Manta, Equador, Sept 2012 Document 7D/32-E ..... Working Party 7D received a liaison statement from WP 5B, inviting the contributing groups to identify and provide any systems characteristics, including technical and operational characteristics, of radiocomunication systems operating in the band and in adjacent bands, that may be used to fulfil the requisite sharing and compatibility studies. The response to WP 5B is given in Document 5B/90 (Source: Document 7D/TEMP/6). A proposal was also made (Document 7D/25, input doc from Germany) to circulate a questionnaire to administrations to obtain the radio astronomy stations operating in the range near 79 GHz. After discussion, WP 7D decided that only basic geographic information needs to be collected, and this activity will be coordinated by the WP 7D Chairman and the list will be provided by the next WP 7D meeting. …….
