Getting Social

We are considering designating one or more “social chairs” to organize non-work activities like lunches, group outings, bake-offs, exercise groups, etc.

General Feedback

Tell us one thing we could do with regards to SC CTSI Communications that would better enable you to do your job. Responses: Focus and organize the information so it all comes in one place weekly! Regular news is gladly welcome. Communicate how well we do things and if we are meeting our goals. Communicate what other CTSA's are doing so we can compare. Include Career Opportunities as a Highlight. Just knowing what other groups are up to on a routine basis would be very helpful. Just more information - we have been in the dark about a lot of things over the past few years; information was shared with very few people and did not always trickle down.

Tell us one thing we could do with regards to SC CTSI Communications that would better enable you to do your job. Responses (Continued): Highlight availability of research ethics consults among clinical researchers at USC. Start tweeting. Since the cores are located at different places across campus, how about incorporating instant messaging as a form of communication with colleagues? In my previous workplace, we used Microsoft Lync (which I think every computer should have), and it allows you to put up an away message and archive conversations in case you want to refer back to something that was discussed. I would definitely suggest we put an instant messaging policy in place before launching this form of communication across CTSI. I think this is a great inter-office tool and if some folks don't want to use it (or not want to be bothered), then they don't have to log in. I'd like to see this as an option. So let's say I need to communicate with someone at Workforce Development. The old school way would be to or call the person and leave a message if he/she is not there. The "new school" way would be to instant message that person and when he/she returns, the message would be right there on their computer. Just a thought.

Please share any other comments or suggestions about SC CTSI Communications
Responses: I like the luncheons to be a combo of updates and mingle time. If we do monthly then we should have enough time for both of these items. Maybe we can alternate between formal and informal luncheons. Sandwiches one month and then nicer meals quarterly. Thank you for sending this survey out. Really appreciate this. Branding the CTU and CTU Laboratory would create new revenue streams. New tag line for CTU could be... Improving Community Health one trial at a time. CTSI Branding: Support Research, discover results, successful outcomes in healthcare When started it needs to remain consistent, relevant and fresh.
