Foveal pit morphology shows significant differences between the Caucasian and African/African American groups. Bars represent the mean ± 1 SD. The African/African American group had significantly deeper and wider foveal pits than did the Caucasians. There was no significant difference in maximum slope between the two groups, which is explained by the simple geometric relationship between these three parameters.
