Each question will include four questions (a-d) that test your knowledge, understanding and evaluation of work covered this half term: Define a term (2 mark) Ask your opinion on a point of view (4 mark) Explain a particular belief or ideas (8 mark) Consider an alternative point of view (6 mark) Chronicled

3 8 marker! In order to attain full marks you will need to show a clear understanding by using: * using 4 brief reasons *or 2 developed reasons * or 3 reasons with one developed *or a detailed explanation using one reason only. - Direct from examiners report.

6 Conflict and Argument Conflict means a disagreement between two groups
What groups of people in the world are in ‘conflict’ with each other EXT: Who was Jesus in conflict with in his life? Why

7 We are going to investigate how Jesus ran into conflict with the religious authorities as a result of his teaching and his actions.

8 This image is the most famous scene of conflict and argument presented in the gospels. Why do you think this is? Does it surprise you?

9 Jesus Heals a Paralysed Man 22nd October 2010

10 The following sentences tell the story of the healing of the paralysed man but they are in the wrong order. Your task is to put them in the correct order. 6. -The teachers of the Law thought Jesus was blaspheming 3. -The four men went onto the roof 1. - Jesus was preaching at Capernaum 9. - The people watched the man leave and were amazed 2. - Four men came to Jesus carrying a paralysed man but could not get to him because of the crowd 5. - Jesus told the man his sins were forgiven 8. - Jesus told the man to pick up the mat and go home 4. - The four men made an opening in the roof and lowered down the paralysed man 7. - Jesus knew that the teachers of the Law thought and said the Son of Man had authority to forgive sins EXT: Why do you think Jesus helped the paralysed man? Think about what they did to make sure they could see Jesus

12 Q1. How did the religious authorities react to Jesus trying to heal the paralysed man? (Were they angry or happy? Why?) Try and use the word ‘blasphemy’ (which means insulting God)in your explanation Q2. How did Jesus respond to the teachers of the Law? EXT: Do you think it was right that in those days people thought that illness was sometimes caused by sin?
