3 What are the seven last words of christ?
Father forgive them, they do not know what they are doing. Today you will be with me in Paradise. Woman, here is your son…Here is your mother. My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? I am thirsty. It is finished. Father, into your hands I commend my spirit. What are the seven last words of christ?

We heard the story of the woman at the well on the 3rd Sunday of Lent. “Jesus’ thirst was not so much for water, but for the encounter with a parched soul.” (53) READ TOGETHER: John 4, if the group desires to FIFTH WORD

6 FIFTH WORD Psalm 42 Our souls thirst for God. (53) When have you been aware of your soul thirsting for God?

7 FIFTH WORD Jesus said he was thirsty but refused the vinegar offered to quench his thirst. We are offered the boundless love of God and continue to say, I’m thirsty. (54) Why do we have so much trouble understanding that God’s love is enough?

8 “The General End of the Missionaries of Charity is to satiate the thirst of Jesus on the Cross for Love and Souls.” (55-56) FIFTH WORD

9 FIFTH WORD Jesus thirsts for you. “____, I thirst.” “He longs for us and desires to meet us at the high noons of our life to quench our thirsts.” (59)

10 FIFTH WORD Discuss: “We cling to our own plans.” (57) How can you more fully trust in the life-giving waters of Jesus Christ and allow God’s plan to unfold for you?

11 FIFTH WORD Discuss: What might Jesus be thirsting for from us as the faith community of St. Joseph’s?
