Themes in world history addresses a particular human activity over a period of time. Ring a bell? So what? Human activity and interaction helps shape history. Credit: 3

Power and Authority History is often made by the people and institutions in power. What comes to mind? -Napoleon Bonaparte crossing the Alps. Does it express power & authority? How? • How did that person or group get power? • What system of government provides order in this society? • How does the group or person in power keep or lose power? Think about our current president… 5

2. Religious and Ethical Systems: - Throughout history, humans around the world have been guided by, as much as anything else, their religious and ethical beliefs. Religion – a particular system of faith and worship. Ethics - moral principles that govern a person's or group's behavior. 14 6. Cultural Interactions: -Today, people around the world share many things, from music, to food, to ideas. Human cultures actually have interacted with each other since ancient times. What is culture? Maybe the answer is here? Credits: 14
