4 PACK Planner “A 6th Graders Best Friend”
Handbook/organizer/calendar Increases individual responsibility Policies, procedures, and school rules Calendar pages are used daily to list homework and important events Replacements cost $5 (cash)

5 Language Arts New Adoption for Language Arts implemented last year: Study Sync Social Studies will continue to be taught in its entirety, but will be more fully integrated with Language Arts than in previous years. A two inch three ring binder is recommended to keep work organized. Many students find this helpful for their success.

6 AR Tests AR test are required every two weeks.
The requirement is 24 points per trimester, entered about every four weeks. Extra credit may be earned up to 32 points. Scores will be entered three times a trimester. Quiz scores: It is a good idea to record scores in the PACK Planner on p. 23. This will help you keep track of your progress. Extra credit if you read: The Lightning Thief, Hatchet, or Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry.

7 AR Tests con. Due dates for AR points: August 22, September 20, October 24. A biography/autobiography of someone who has affected history will be required sometime during Trimester I. Please let me know whose life story you choose before beginning to read.

8 Social Studies Review of Ancient History
Mesopotamia through Roman Empire Guided Rdg, Workbook pages, & quiz for every section. For example, chapter 1, section 2. Chapter test about every month. Extra credit quiz may be taken online a day or two before the test. All work due the day of the test.

9 Pali Mountain Science Camp
Camp April 2-4 (M-W) Suggested donation last year $285 Parent meeting TBD Cabin sign-up in March Donations may be made via EZ School Pay or by check. Cash should be taken directly into the office.

10 PACK Period 3 Personally Achieving Character & Knowledge
This period features differentiated instruction according to levels of academic performance. Students are placed in homogenous groups. Students will alternate weeks T-F for language arts and math. Monday: Character Focus. Students stay in homeroom for activities related to monthly character traits.

11 Homework Expect homework nightly M-Th
Occasionally follow-up homework is assigned on the weekend District policy is about 20 minutes per subject daily, excluding outside reading Extension of class work Projects assigned with specific instructions and deadlines PACK Planner should be completed daily Teacher Web updated daily & may be used as backup for absences and other questions

12 Weekly Work Folder Weekly work folders will be sent home on Mondays with completed assignments. Please check grades on Aeries every Monday and review them with your student. We are not requiring a parent signature this year, but a grade report will be sent home via Aeries the same day. Thank you! Check grades frequently so there are no surprises!

13 Grading Procedures Grades are available online 24/ via via the Aeries portal. Access on Etiwanda or Day Creek Website Your student will receive a sign-in name and password. Parents have their own password. Grades are based on: tests, quizzes, projects, homework, class work. Participation also plays an important role.

Join us for a night of learning. We will be walking you through all the tools your student has available to them. Learn how to access the parent portal, Google Drive, ConnectED, & Study Sync.
