1 Membership Class: Discipleship
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

2 Discipleship What is a disciple? Who is a disciple of Jesus?
Why is discipleship important?

3 What is a disciple? Follower of Jesus;
“ Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.’” (Luke 9:23; 14: 27) Learning and Imitating Jesus: ”Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. “ (Matthew 11:28-29) Obeying his teaching; If you hold to my teaching, you are my disciples. (John 8:31)

All Christians are the disciples of Jesus— The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch. (Acts 11:26a) The Twelve were Apostles—When morning came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he also designated apostles. (Luke 6:13) Tip: Add your own speaker notes here.

5 Why is discipleship important?
Without it, we have no spiritual foundations; “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord, and do not do what I say? As for everyone ho comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock…” (Luke 6:46-49) It was at the heart of Jesus was doing; To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. (1 Peter 2:21) Jesus commands it; Matthew 28:19-20 Tip: Add your own speaker notes here.
