A Christmas Message
Titus 2:11-13
December 7, 2014

5. Titus 2:  ¶ For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, 13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.

6. Titus 3: But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, 5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

7. 2 Timothy 1:  ¶ Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, 9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, 10 but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,

The Incarnation –The Purpose of Redemption vs. 11
The Grace of God has appeared – bringing salvation
The Preparation – The Training of the Redeemed vs. 12
Why?
Because we had gone our own way.
Because we presently live in this age.
What?
That which we must leave
The way in which we must live
The Anticipation – The Waiting for the Redeemer vs. 13
Looking for the Person of Hope and Glory
This is One Person – The Great God EVEN our Savior Jesus Christ

9. AMAZING GRACE!
The timeless purpose of God’s grace in Christmas is not simply that man be rescued from Hell and be blessed with salvation.
To say that would be MAN-CENTERED.
It is so that man who is saved, sanctified, and glorified by grace can praise the God who saved him.
The timeless purpose of God’s grace in Christmas is the salvation of man so that He can show forth the glory of God in this life and for all eternity.
