2 Do you know who your child is talking to?
The internet can be a great resource for children! They can use it for research on a topic, to communicate with their peers, family, and teachers. They can also play many interactive games, both educational and for fun. Children can access almost anything on the internet. This access can pose many dangers to children. Because children can access almost anything on the internet, it is so important to talk to your children about internet safety. It is important to be aware of what your children see and hear on the internet. You must be aware of who your children are talking to and what they share about themselves. Just like any safety issue, it is important to talk with your children about your worries, take advantage of resources to look after them, and keep a close eye on what they are doing on the internet.

Look closely at what information they are giving out. Tell your children to guard their identifying information: Name Gender Age Address School Teams Make sure your child's username and profile contains generic information.

Always keep your child’s computer in an open area. Never allow a computer with Internet access in your child’s bedroom. Communicate. There is no better tool to bridge the Digital Divide. Talk to your child about online dangers. Let them know you are there to help them get out of a bad situation. Educate yourself on the ins and outs of the Internet.
