40 A MOTHER'S WAGES Exodus 2:1-10 What would it be like to: Be a slave and feel the sting of a whip on your back Feel the joy of giving birth to a beautiful baby boy Experience the heartache from this baby must die Live with the anxiety of hiding a baby for 3 months Bitter sweet feelings of making that little ark

41 The pain of placing your son in that ark in the Nile
The utter anguish of walking away Knowing you have no control of what takes place The fetar of seeing the king's daughter find your son The joy of the command “to nurse this child for me” And satisfaction in, “I will give you your wages” Mothers what wage do you charge for being a Mom

42 I. A Godly Mother's Characteristics
A. Faith-that her ark could make a difference That her son would see a better time That God controlled the future not Pharaoh Faith like that of Eunice and Lois to teach Timothy

43 B. Hope-For her son to be saved from Pharaoh's decree
For her son to be of useful service in society For her son to be one who was yielded to God Today's Godly mothers hope and prayer: For each child to become a blessing to society For each child to be useful for the kingdom of God

44 C. Love-Every Godly mother submits to the will of God.
Jochebed put her son in the river Nile She was casting him into the love of God Her God's power and love were sufficient for her needs There on the riverbank her love and God's love met God performed a miracle through human beings The saving of Moses changed the course of history Jochebed experienced perfect love that casts out fear

45 II. A Mother's Work I will not try to list the work of a mother. “A man's work is from sun to sun A woman's work is never done” A. To curb a child's lawlessness. To instill biblical truths to guide the child in life To discipline-teaching consequences of wrong choices Train up a child in the way that he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6

46 B. To comfort a sick child.
A sick or hurting child wants the touch of their mother A mother's loving touch soothes the heart and mind To see a mother care for her sick child is a glimspe of divine of divine love in action. C. To point the way to God. Surpassing everything is to point your child to God Picture of church steeple with finger pointing up to God What did Jochebed teach young Moses so he followed God Hebrews 11:24,25 To lead your child to saving faith in Jesus Christ

47 III. A Mother's Wages What were the wages paid to Jochebed? What are your wages for being a mother? Hugs, Thank you's, I love you A. Early payment Jochebed may have wondered is motherhood worth it? Her son was taken from her when he was weaned He was taught the customs and ways of the Egyptians In anger he committed murder and fled for his life For forty years she never saw his face

48 B. Later payment Did Jochebed live to see the impact of her children? Exodus 6:20 Amram lived 137 years Jewish tradion says Jochebed outlived Moses Cards, flowers, corsages may be a tiny wage for motherhood The greatest wages a Godly mother can receive: Children who are obedient Children who are morally pure Children who are born again believers Children who are active in doing God's work

49 Conclusion: Mother's where is your priority? Earthly or eternal wages? Children is the wage you are paying your mother that of Eternal things or are they earthly things that will fade away.
