1 Staff Benefits Through our People Strategy, we aim to enable our workforce to be their best through offering Health & Wellbeing support, creating healthy workplaces and enabling good attendance. As part of this aim, we look to support our staff through by offering a variety of benefits. A summary of these benefits are set out in this factsheet. Comprehensive Terms and Conditions of Service Asset out in the NHS Terms and Conditions Handbook, Including paid annual leave and bank holidays, pay during sickness absence, maternity/adoption leave & pay, incremental pay scales & pay enhancements. Pension Scheme Access to the NHS Pension Scheme with an employer contribution between 5% and 14.5% depending on salary. Supportive Policies We have a range of policies offering support for staff such as Special Leave, Flexible Working, Flexible Retirement, Dignity at Work, Maternity, Paternity, Adoption & Shared Parental Leave, Appraisal, Raising Concerns. Occupational Health Contracted to Team Prevent, the service provides health clearance for new starters as well as management referrals for those requiring support throughout their employment. The service is used by managers to ensure that staff are fit to be in work and that any necessary adjustments within the workplace are made. Physiotherapy sessions are also provided. Employee Assistance Programme Provided through Mersey Care NHS Trust this service is a programme designed to provide staff with information, advice and support via a dedicated 24/7 free, independent, confidential advice and support telephone helpline and other useful resources. Education & Development Opportunities Access to extensive offering for personal development, educational and leadership courses provided by our dedicated on site education centre and team. Plus, we also have a Library & Knowledge Service providing access to books, journals, a knowledge hub, databases and training, literature search requests and loans of equipment such as laptops and iPads. We aim to create a culture where staff feel supported, involved and valued to give their best and where day to day behaviours are consistent with the Trust Values.

Salary Sacrifice Schemes We have a number of schemes which, if you choose to sign up, can save money and reduce your costs. Savings are made by reducing your gross salary in exchange for the benefits, which will thereby reduce your tax, National Insurance contributions (NI) and pension contributions. The schemes, which are governed by strict rules from HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), are Childcare vouchers, Nursery Fees, Cycle to work and Car loan scheme. Staff Restaurant  There is an on-site restaurant serving hot and cold food and drinks from 8am to 4pm, inc healthy options plus on-site coffee shops. Reward & Recognition We recognise long service within the NHS and reward staff with the option of additional annual leave or choice from a variety of retail gift vouchers at 25 and 40 years service. Staff are also issued with a certificate and memento. Retirement from the NHS with long service is also recognised . Other reward and recognition includes Employee of the Month (Best of the Best), Your Chance to Shine (Team recognition) and LHCH Grand Awards. Staff Discounts NHS employees are eligible for discounts from a large number of retailers and outlets through the NHS Discounts Scheme. Physical Activity There is a small free on-site gym available for staff use, as well as advice and programmes; fitness/ strength/ health composition assessments and BMI assessments by appointment. Fitness classes, such as Zumba and Pilates, are run by Broadgreen Hospital (who are on the same site) on a weekly basis and these are also available to LHCH staff. These are currently run at a cost of £3 per session. A yoga class is also being held on a Monday at The Trust participates in the NHS Games and the Military Reserves NHS Challenge and promotes a number of other physical activities including walk to work, step challenge, work out at work. Cycle maintenance The Bike Doctor (mobile bicycle mechanics) visits the hospital to service and repair bikes for staff that cycle to work and offer a free MOT.  On-site parking For use by staff and visitors. Staff are offered the option of paying a monthly fee for a parking pass, which is significantly cheaper than purchasing a ticket daily. Staff Wellbeing Group The Group has a focus on the improvement of the wellbeing of staff, maintenance of the Staff Health & Wellbeing Strategy and the promotion, communication and oversight of a programme of health and wellbeing initiatives, education and targeted interventions.
