Lack of knowledge about / perception of Rotary 4 Age profile Stigma around age and purpose 2 Small female membership 4 Cost to younger members 3 Lunches heavy on time Daytime meetings / time of meetings 18 Mentioned once: Ethnic balance, Move around tables, Associate membership , Office bearers rotate, Too much formality, Too short a time to decide commitment, Poor mentoring Here are the most requested issues from respondents <click>

24 19. Any further comments MEMBERSHIP SATISFACTION SURVEY
I believe the Club should re-consider the question of evening meetings – changing from a lunchtime to an evening meeting. This would not only suit me personally, but it would also make the Club more attractive to potential new members We give out Paul Harris Fellowships via the President, which is not correct – it’s a Club award, and it should be known who is responsible for selection I admire many of the members who work so hard for our Club & community. I hope to be in a position to contribute more when things settle down Get rid of Districts and the people who are involved. Stop the President awarding Paul Harris medals – most have only been members for a short time and [don’t?] know what the past members have achieved Give more guidance on what’s acceptable in dress

25 19 (cont). Any further comments
MEMBERSHIP SATISFACTION SURVEY 19 (cont). Any further comments We have too many speakers from charities, all banging their own drums, all admirable people, but too many of them is counter-productive and boring. Members, particularly new members, should be encouraged to tell us about themselves and their experiences, or find interesting speakers Overall I am personally happy with Rotary, but for the future of the Club, we must keep exploring all options available to us to maintain the Club in a healthy state. Club should be asking chronic non-attenders to explain absences Club, as we all recognise, is an ageing one & serious consideration should be given to evening meetings. Also, mentoring is virtually non existent – consideration should be given to extending the number of visits prior to deciding whether to join or not

26 19 (cont). Any further comments
MEMBERSHIP SATISFACTION SURVEY 19 (cont). Any further comments I have been made to feel very welcome since I joined the Club. I think though that we should be trying to achieve a better gender balance as well as trying to attract younger members and representatives from different ethnic backgrounds. I feel the Club is vibrant and healthy; however, Society / work environment are changing irreversibly, and we need to think about the future development of the Club NOW and not when it is in decline. Well done on an interesting questionnaire format. Change and improvement is the lifeblood of such a Club.

27 20.Conclusions MEMBERSHIP SATISFACTION SURVEY
The Club is healthy, vibrant and motivated; 4 out of every five members returned the questionnaire 2. The survey has highlighted some issues for consideration by the Membership Service Committee, particularly: > the on-going development of the Club website > the mentoring of new Club members > improving awareness of Rotary Foundation > continuing attention to the age, gender and ethnic profile > the time and location of the weekly Club meeting Conclusions – the main one being that 20 of the respondents identified the time of the weekly meeting as an issue 3. This is part of an on-going process of evolution and improvement – members should always be relaxed about raising any other issues as appropriate.

28 Thanks for your participation!
MEMBERSHIP SATISFACTION SURVEY Thanks for your participation! Thanks for your participation, and the next step will be to look at the few areas for improvement and to capitalise on the much of the good stuff that goes on in our Club, day and day out!
