1 Welcome to Mathematics A Level
By the end of this course you will: Have an understanding of pure mathematics at advanced level, including advanced algebraic methods and calculus. Understand and be able to apply a range of mathematical techniques and methods to solve statistics and mechanics problems. Be able to solve advanced level mathematical problems.

Course requirements General College entry requirements At least grade 6 or grade B in GCSE Mathematics Which skills are needed? Good algebra, number, geometry and statistics skills Mathematical problem solving Application skills to relate mathematics to real world scenarios Expectations and workload An interest in mathematics High level of independent study to support classroom learning 3 internal formal assessments completed per academic year 2 homework assignments completed per week – a minimum of 6 hours per week outside of lessons on homework, further study and revision

Understand and be able to apply a range of mathematical techniques and methods to solve mechanics and decision-based problems. Be able to solve advanced level mathematical problems.
