(123 wpm)  Use knowledge of text and language to: ask questions, compare/contrast, infer, determine importance, and summarize.  Students will use evidence from text to support their thinking.  Instruction:  Focus Lessons Target comprehension strategies  Readers’ Workshop Independent reading, building fluency, putting comprehension strategies into practice, Book Clubs (small groups)  Students spend large chunks of time reading and working with text at their INDEPENDENT LEVEL!
