8 Meiosis I Duplicated homologous chromosomes are separated into two daughter cells. Chromosome number cut in half (HAPLOID). Each cell receives one homologue of each pair of chromosomes. Crossing over may occur; so cells are genetically DIFFERENT. Sister chromatids DO NOT separate.
