5 Seda’s Target Market  Historically, Seda has primarily focused on the micro and very small segments of the SMME sector, due to the sheer volumes and the number of people who want to start a business.  A number of initiatives have been implemented to balance between this and the emerging need to maximise impact measures such as employment, profitability and sustainability of assisted clients  One of these is prioritising the upper end of the small enterprise sector, i.e. the businesses employing between 21 and 200 people as the market segment with job creation potential

Co –Ops and CPPP Programme Its mission:-  promote the establishment of rural and collectively owned enterprises,  ensure their growth and sustainability by facilitating public and private partnerships Seda Programmes

Supplier Development Programme  Capacitate respective SMEs with necessary skills so that they have the ability to do business with corporate sector entities.  Concentrates on both the Supplier and the Buyer  The objectives of the Seda SDP with regard to the Supplier, are to: Reduce cost to supply; Improve technology; Increase productivity  The objective of the Seda SDP is to assist the Buyer with the achievements of the following goals: Contribution to the NDP (National Development Plan) goals of increasing economic growth, employment creation, and skills development; Contribution to Broad – Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE); Development of local industries to supply high quality, globally-competitive goods and services;

14 Seda Programmes 4. Mentorship  In Mentorship, Seda aims at assisting SMEs by: Encouraging SMEs; Reducing mistakes; Eliminating weaknesses; and Bring a can do attitude.  Offered to clients that have potential to grow to the next level.  The business should show signs of readiness to change i.e.: Openness to new ways of doing things; Willingness to Explore; Commitment; Willingness to accept constructive feedback; and Willing to divulge information.

Export Development Programme  Aims to develop and generate export-ready small enterprises that are globally competitive;  Enable enterprises to grow markets both locally and internationally; and  The programme is designed to help small enterprises in South Africa to acquire and apply practical skills in developing their export capabilities.
