9 WE NEED COACHES!!!

10 GUIDELINES FOR COACHES All coaches must be approved chaperones i.e. complete the Safe Environment requirements and Virtus Training. No coaching can take place before this happens. Attending the Coaches Clinic in November will better prepare you to coach your team. It will take place at Naperville North High School on October 28 & 29 th. OLMCA covers the cost for you and registers you Most of us attend the Saturday workshops. Lunch is provided. Please let JB know ASAP if you would like to attend the Coaches Clinic. Joanne Blake, Ed Villasenor and Shane Staszcuk, would be pleased to mentor or provide more information and advice to any new coaches. We encourage new coaches. Call or email any time. For your convenience, Varsity and JV teams should be coached for their events at the same time. Based on your time and convenience, please do your best to provide your team with a few options for coaching times. It is expected that teams will meet with coaches at least one time per meet. If team members are unable to make your coaching times, then it becomes their parents’ responsibility to coach their student for the competitions. Coaches can provide written materials to the parent as they see fit. Once coaching has started, if a parent decides to take over their student’s coaching themselves, whether an academic event or a build event, that parent must notify Joanne Blake. Coaching can take place in the school anytime between 7AM and 6PM. Lunch/recess is also an option. Younger siblings should be placed in aftercare and not be in the halls or classrooms when coaching takes place. As competitions approach, coaching may take place at school during the Christmas holiday and on Saturdays. It is the head coach’s responsibility to determine which JV students will participate in which competitions. The Varsity team is expected to compete in all competitions. Junior Varsity team members are expected to be available to participate in all competitions. Coaches will need to buy materials, supplies, tools and/or kits and should submit receipts to Joanne Blake for reimbursement.
