2. Bank holiday are public holidays in the Britain, originally called so as banks were closed on these special days. Among these holidays are ranked: Christmas Easter Trooping the colour Guy Fawkes Day

3. On Christmas Day they have Christmas dinner. They eat roast turkey with potatoes and vegetables and then traditional Christmas pudding. The presents are brought by Santa Claus. Children unwrapped the present in the morning on 25 th December

6. Is a day of bonfires and fireworks. 1605 Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the English parliament. On 5 th November was this conspirator caught and put into the jail. They celebrate this day to remember the unsuccessful attempt of Guy Fawkes.

8. PRESIDENT ‘S DAY Is the official birthday of all American presidents since the first one – George Washington. The ceremonies are every third Monday in February. MEMORIAL DAY Commemorates the dead in all wars on the fourth Monday in May. '

9. LABOUR DAY It is celebrated on the first Monday in September. COLUMBUS DAY Is celebrated every second Monday in October. Reminds Columbus' landing in the New World in 1492. '

10. Commemorates victory over British and American Civil War and the signing of DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE in 1776 It is a day of picnics, parades an flying the flag, parties, barbecues, concerts and fireworks. It is celebrated on 4 th July.

11. Is celebrated on the last Thursday of November and it is the second most important holiday after Christmas. When Pilgrim Fathers settled in America in 1620 they suffered a lot during the first winter, most of them died. The next year Native Americans taught them how to plant corn etc. In the autumn 1621 they celebrated the Thanksgiving day for the first time. They invited the local Indians to the celebration. They wanted to say Thank you.
