Section 5

 Graph-a picture of information from a data table that shows the relationship between variables.

 - one in which the data points form a straight line.

 Axis  Horizontal-runs left to right AKA x-axis  Vertical- runs up and down AKA y-axis

Origin- point labeled where the x and y axis meet.  Coordinate- a pair of numbers used to determine the position of a point on a graph.

 Data Points-points on a graph showing the location of a piece of data.

 A smooth line that reflects the general pattern of a graph.  Slope-steepness of a graph  Rise y 2 -y 1  Slope= ------- = ---------  Run x 2 -x 1

 a graph in which the data points do not fall along a straight line.  Ex: Graphs with curved paths.

 Key terms-  Data- qualitative/quantitative  What is a scientific theory / law  Metric conversions*Formulas D=M/V  SI units * M=DV V=M/D  Inference *Estimate  Observations*Accuracy/ Precision  Volume- LxWxH *Lab Safety  Density *Reproducibility  Mass *Variables-manipulated  Weightresponding  Parts of a graph*slope  Graduated cylinder- meniscus
