2 IGCSE Assessment Objectives AO2: Research & Analysis Explore the work of at least 2 artists. Analyse techniques, ideas and approaches Apply these to your own ideas. AO1: Record Observations Good quality drawings & photos you have taken yourself. Explore subject matter Different media, viewpoints, ideas AO3: Develop Ideas Develop at least 2 composition ideas Produce detailed studies of elements of your composition Experiment with materials & techniques AO4: Final Piece Select your best idea Ensure your final piece shows strong connections to your observations, research and ideas development. Each of the 4 AO’s is worth up to 25% of your final grade.

3 AO1: Recording Observations: Drawings and Photographs. Drawings must be from direct observation Or from photos you have taken yourself

4 AO2: Analyse and evaluate images. Make connections to the work of others. Show you understand the artists style and techniques. Look carefully at their work and practise using the same methods. No need to copy!

5 AO3: Develop Your Ideas. Experiment with different materials to find out what will work best in your final piece. + AO1 =AO3 AO2

8 Using A Sketchbook You can use your sketchbook for: Drawings to exploring subject matter and ideas Experiment with media & techniques: pencil, pen, charcoal, paint, pastels, ink etc. Gathering research, making copies of artists’ work and experiments with their technique/approach. Ideas for final piece: drawings, plans, rough sketches and experiments with approaches, materials and techniques. Notes to explain what you are doing, why, how etc. Evaluation

10 How are these pictures different/similar? Still life has been a popular genre of painting for centuries. A still life is a collection of inanimate objects.

26 Success Criteria: The student can…  Complete the Unit 1 reflection worksheet using detailed notes.  Select feedback from others that they wish to work on and apply in the future.  Ask questions to clarify their understanding of the feedback given and to ensure they clearly understand what is required for each of the four IGCSE Art criteria. 27 Evaluation Lesson 1 of 2 Add artist’s signature, take final photo of AO4 artwork, return easels and any other materials or equipment (except paintbrushes). Review the reflection worksheet & do peer feedback for AO4 (rotate around artwork table with 2-3 minutes & 2 post-it notes per peer). Lesson 2 of 2: Complete the reflection worksheet by Sunday February 7.
