2 Training The process of teaching a person or persons a new set of skills. They may be able to use these skills at work, at home, or with the scouts.

3 Why Do We Have Training ? We learn the how, what, when, where, & why. To help make us better leaders. To become better teachers for our fellow scouts. To become a better person in everyday life. To pass on information to our fellow scouts so they can be better at what they do.

6 Skills Training We are defining this as the learning to “do stuff”. This includes Cooking, Knot Tying, Camping, First Aid, Cleaning, Setting up a Tent, Starting a Fire, Use a Map & Compass, etc.

13 Leader Online Training The online training has been modified into 3 Learn & Experience Sections Before the First Meeting First 30 Days Position Trained Each of these sections contain about 4 to 8 lessons focused on specific training topics that build on each other as you go. It takes about 3 hours to complete all 3 sections. Once you start, the system sends out reminder emails to help you stay on pace to complete each lesson before the next due date.

Understanding the rules leaders operate under for all youth’s safety helps prevent misunderstandings. Reasonable expectations help to prevent problems caused by unrealistic demands.

26 How to Train Let family’s know when training is offered. Let them know how it is available. Tell them who will be doing the training.

27 Training Results Explain why it is important for parents to share what they have learned to their youth. Help parents understand and share the benefits of scouting. Parents may be more supportive of assignments to help their sons develop leadership and scouting skills.

28 Why Train? When you know what to do and how to do it, you are more confident, happier, and a better leader. How Do You Get Others to Train? Believe in training and explain the benefits of training. Show how it helps them. WIIFM Keep track of training and give recognition to adults as well as youth. How Do You Get Trained? However it is best for you.
