6. Connections: US Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools Bridging Grant Competitive grants for SEAs to sustain prevention work – Iowa would be eligible for approx. $125,000. The SEAs role will be to assist LEAs to:  Establish partnerships to sustain prevention work  Seek new funding streams  Enhance prevention strategies

7. Connections: US Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools School Climate Initiative  5-7 awards, $4.2 – 5.8 million, 48 months  Adopt/adapt/develop school climate survey  Yr. 1, develop surveys  Yr. 2, administer surveys K-12, all students, staff, parents  20% of state enrollment must participate in survey in order to qualify  States partner with LEAs with greatest need  LEAs submit plans based on survey results

Challenging Behavior  Increase skills and knowledge of FBA/BIP to 2 CBS’s per AEA  Increase skills and knowledge of FBA/BIP of all educational personnel in the state  Refine criteria basis for staff implementing FBA/BIP  Establish 1-3 BCBA IHE programs in the state to provide replenishment of personnel with FBA/BIP skills

Wraparound  Overall outcome- ◦ Develop capacity at tertiary level embedded in the PBIS structure  Activities for 2010-2011 ◦ Training and supports delivered to 9 identified schools/districts (Cohort 2) ◦ Identification of AEA personnel to work with identified Cohort 3 sites for implementation in 2011-2012 ◦ SIMEO data system established to input and track wraparound data ◦ Coordination across existing projects/initiatives ◦ Evaluation
