3. National Insurance 2016/2017 National Insurance calculations have been updated to reflect recent changes by HMRC Capita have issued a PDF file with the latest National Insurance Rates for 2016/17. You may have manually entered them within SIMS before the end of April 2016, so that salaries are calculated correctly in FMS for 2016/17. New National Insurance Rules for Apprentice Employees Under 25 4 From 6 April 2016, the National Insurance employer’s Class 1 secondary contribution will not be required for Apprentice employees under the age of 25 on earnings up to the upper earning level for the employee. The employer’s contribution will be calculated from the 1st of the month in which the employee becomes 25. To ensure that Personnel Links accurately projects the National Insurance contribution for all employees, it is critical that the date of birth held in Personnel is accurate and that the employee is identified as an apprentice in the employee's contract. Additionally, within Salary Calculator, the Apprenticeship Scheme check box has been added to the contract to indicate that the employee’s contract relates to an apprenticeship scheme for the duration of the financial year.

7. Recording General Notes Against a Supplier It is now possible to add general notes to a supplier via the Supplier Details page. This is achieved by clicking the Notes button on the Focus Bar. 7

8. Selecting a Specific Financial Period when Running the Salary Projection Report It is now possible to select a financial period when running the salary projection reports, enabling you to identify variations between commitments and actuals. 8

11. School Details Displayed on the Title Bar The Title Bar in FMS now indicates the school's name, together with their LA/Establishment Number. 11

12. Issues Resolved in FMS 6.168 The response time has been improved when saving Cost Centre Allocation (via Focus | Budget Management | Cost Centre Allocation). Payment cancellations are now reported correctly on the Historical Unreconciled Bank Transactions report (via Reports | General Ledger | Bank | Historical Unreconciled Bank Transaction Listing). The display issue that caused the truncation of the Description field in Petty Cash Processing has been resolved (via Focus | General Ledger | Petty Cash). 12
