IT is no longer confined to being just a career. it is now part of every career. physics or biology, accountancy or painting, reading books or writing them, media or journalism, teaching or studying further, IT plays a big role in each one. Today, IT transforms sectors like manufacturing, medicine, banking, business research, marketing, consulting, business analytics, hospitability, insurance, equity research and many more fields, including arts and humanitarian work. It has come to play a big part in all career opportunities for science, humanities and commerce students after class 12.
The new GNIIT programme prepares students, enrolled in a college for a successful entry into the professional IT world by making them job-ready, the day they graduate. The programme gives students the benefit of a dual qualification as this programme can be pursued along with graduation.
The new industry-endorsed GNIIT programme aligns with a changing environment. GNIIT is a credit based curriculum, designed to offer flexibility to students in learning. In other words, the students will have the flexibility to choose courses as per their interest and career goals.

Designed to be a dual qualification programme that can be pursued in parallel to graduation, the new programme architecture has been aligned to the semester(half-yearly) system followed by pioneering universities today. The new programme architecture helps a student to learn at home and NIIT centre. The unique architecture requires a pre-defined effort of two hours a day from the student allowing him to prudently manage his college and NIIT studies.
The new GNIIT curriculum provides flexible architecture through accumulation of credits. It comprises core-general and core-IT courses, disciplinary courses aligned to current and future technologies as well as elective courses available in semester 5. Elective course give an option to choose as per individual interests.
The new curriculum consists of courses which impart the core skills and build the foundation for the end profile These are: Personal computing and productivity tools Object oriented concepts and implementations Relational database design and implementations Desktop application development Information search analysis and data reporting techniques.
The new GNIIT academic architecture is a credit- based system designed to offer learning flexibility to students. A credit is a basic measure of student workload. It is a standard metric adopted by many educational institutions for specifying the number of hours of learning effort that a student is expected to put in while completing the course.
A year of professional practice at the end of graduation and five semesters at NIIT exposes our students to working in a real industry environment. It is an internship that consolidates the student’s knowledge into applied skill-sets. Over 3,800 reputed organizations are enlisted as NIIT partners in providing professional practice to GNIIT students. Even better, students get to “ earn-while-learn” during their stint at the professional practice site
PROGRAMME ELIGIBILITY: Student should have appeared for or cleared class 12 Should have scored 60% or more in class 10 or 55% or more in class 12 Students should have exposure to MS Windows Environment. SELECTION CRITERIA: Admission to GNIIT programme will be on the basis of score in English test taken by the applicant.
