3 Individual Fellowships (IF) in a nutshell Individual, trans-national fellowships Awarded to the best or most promising researchers Employment in EU Member States or Associated Countries Based on joint application by researcher and host organisation In academic or non-academic sector Funding for salary (plus some institutional costs) 3

4 Two IF variants European Fellowship European Fellowship: Fellow goes to host organisation in Europe 1-2 years 4 Global Fellowship Global Fellowship: Fellow goes to partner organisation outside Europe and comes back to host organisation in Europe 2-3 years

5 Rules and eligibility Mobility rule: in 3 yrs preceding call deadline, <12 months in country of destination Experienced Researchers: >4 yrs research experience or with PhD Researcher can have any nationality But, for GF: EU national or previously long-term EU resident (>5 yrs) Appliciation to one of 8 disciplinary panels, or 3 multidisciplinary panels (SE/CAR/RI: EF only) 5

6 3 Extra panels for European Fellowship Society and Enterprise Panel (SE) To work at organisation from the non-academic sector Dedicated budget of 10 million 6 Career Restart Panel (CAR) To resume research after career break of at least 12m prior to deadline Reintegration Panel (RI) To return and reintegrate in EU Direct mobility from TC to country beneficiary For EU nationals / long term residents More flexible mobility rule: in last 5 yr in 5 yrs preceding call deadline, <36 months in country of destination:

9 Success rates IF 2015 IF 2015 overall -General: 13.9% -NL: 17,9% European Fellowships 2015 - Total: 14,2% Global Fellowships 2015 - Total: 11,3% Cut-off scores around 90% (and up)! 9
