"Joe sent me." A patron knocks at the door of a speakeasy, as a watchful eye gives him the once-over through the peephole. The password is not a word but a person. http://www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2009/06/02/dinin g/20090603-speakeasy-slideshow_index.html

Oliver Kueker Red Bud, Illinois June, 1946 We all need parents.

A few years ago I had a conversation with a fellow pastor whose church had rapidly grown after his appointment there. I asked him what he had done that played a part in that growth, and his answer surprised me. "There were two things," he said. "The first thing I stress to them is that...

“Shepherds don’t make sheep; sheep make sheep.”

It’s a simple idea, but profound: Mature Christians make new Christians. In shepherding, this is the limiting factor. How many lamb producing sheep are in the flock? “Shepherds don’t make sheep; sheep make sheep.”

Lambs cannot make sheep; only sheep can make sheep. “Shepherds don’t make sheep; sheep make sheep.”

“Sheep make sheep.” 83% Lambs 17% Servants

Mat 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Mat 28:20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age."

No “self-made” men… we're to be taught!

Mat 22:39 And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

Yoido pastor Yongii Cho: You know, we don’t do evangelism in Korea the way you do it in the West... We have 50,000 cell groups and each group will love two people to Christ within the next year.

They select someone who’s not a Christian, whom they can pray for, love and serve. They bring meals, help sweep out the person’s store — whatever it takes to show they really care for them.

After three or four months of such love, the hardest soul softens up and surrenders to Christ. When a person asks, “Why are you treating me so well?" our people answer, "Jesus told us that we’re supposed to do good to all men, and we want you to know that we love you, and so does Jesus."
