3 What to expect from Reception Children are taught by a Teacher and two Teaching Assistants at all times We offer a rich, stimulating and challenging learning environment inside and out There is a balance between child-initiated and adult-initiated learning Learning is based on children’s needs and interests Children are taught daily Phonics (RWI) and Maths in small groups We work closely with you to support your child September 2015Miss Ashton3

9 Homework timetable Daily: Please read to/with your child and record in Reading Journal Practise reading sounds/words Practise writing sounds/words Send your child to school with their Reading Folder Wednesday: Hand in your child’s Phonics Homework Folder as you drop off in the morning Thursday: New Phonics Homework given out Friday: Hand in your child’s Library book as you drop off in the morning Half-termly: Please support your child to complete their Home Learning Journal
