Cardinal University is the top-tier education pathway where eligible students gain their 7 Senior Credits (or more) through one or more Dual Credit Program opportunities. WCHS On-Campus Dual Credit Classes WCATC On-Campus Dual Credit Classes SCC On-Campus Dual Credit Classes EKU Now! Online Classes WKU Online Classes Any other College/University On-Campus or Online Classes

3 Eligibility Requirements For WCHS Students to be eligible for Cardinal University, they would need to meet the following: Have a 3.75 Cumulative GPA at the conclusion of their Junior year. Have met ACT Benchmarks in English/Math/Reading Meet requirements for enrolling in participating College/University Be on track for Graduation Be able to furnish own transportation if needed Assume responsibility for all costs associated with the program, including fees, books, etc. that may be charged by the participating College/University

4 Program Requirements Students must be actively taking courses Minimum of 3 (max 5) courses per semester Must have a total of 5 credits for the year to maintain KEES money. Any student who drops below 3 would be required to return to WCHS at that point to resume a regular 7-period schedule. Complete all WCHS Diploma Graduation Requirements Be present at WCHS for any mandated testing or senior-related activities.

5 Program Requirements Complete any necessary coursework to complete their Career Readiness requirements. Comply with the attendance policy of WCHS and SCC/EKU/WKU/etc Complete the ILP Report mid-term grades to WCHS

6 Other Information Students will be awarded credit at WCHS as performance based credit College courses that are 3 hours or more will receive 1 weighted HS credit College courses that are less than 3 hours will receive ½ of a weighted HS credit All courses will affect the student’s high school GPA

7 What will your Schedule look like? There is no one answer to this question There could be a mixture of classes from more than 1 source. Students could come to WCHS for only the Dual Credit classes they are enrolled in only. The other time could be done anywhere. Students can still participate in their activities. A student could come in for Band during 7 th Period A student could be in Drama 1 st, then leave for the rest of the day Students are still eligible for Extra-Curricular Activities – Sports, Academic Team, etc.

8 Cost With Governor Bevin’s recent legislation, all Dual Credit classes (at participating Colleges/Universities) costs $52 per credit hour. ALL Seniors who meet the requirements are eligible for 2 FREE Dual Credit Classes to the Participating College/University of their choice for the school year. (Could be both during 1 semester, or 1 each semester) 3 credit hour classes = $156 We thought SCC’s DC was going to cost $230 for 3 hr. class Keep in mind, ACT Composite of 21 = 1 free EKU Now Class; ACT Composite of 23 = 2 free EKU Now Classes

11 Next Steps Today is July 26 th Anyone planning WKU online needs to be enrolled on Monday, August 1 st. Students who want to change their schedules to be Cardinal University can do so ASAP. Please use the Cardinal University Planning form (handout). WCHS needs to know your intentions by Wednesday, August 3.
