2. 1 st DAY – Welcome Portugal Transfer Airport – Hotel accompanied by duly licensed official guide, in first class tourism bus equipped with sound system and air conditioning. Check-in in the hotel and welcome drink.

3. 2 nd DAY – Funchal and Botanical Garden JC TOURS PORTUGAL Portugal Departure from the hotel and walk by the Old Town, including the Historical Nucleus of Santa Maria dated from 1425, when the settlement of Madeira began. Visit to “Mercado dos Lavradores”, built in 1941. In the inner court, you will find wicker baskets with exotic fruit and vegetables, near the exit the flower women in the typical costumes are offering orchids, birds of paradise, flamingo flowers.

4. 2 nd DAY – Funchal and Botanical Garden Portugal The next stop will be at Botanical Garden, where you may enjoy a magnificent view over Funchal. Here you can find, besides orchids, an enormous amount of tropical and subtropical plants from all over the world. To conclude, we will visit a wine cellar, where you have the opportunity to taste the famous Madeira Wine.

5. JC TOURS 3 rd DAY – Porto Moniz JC TOURS PORTUGAL Portugal We follow along the southern coast, towards Cabo Girão (580m), the highest cliff in Europe. Enjoy the view over Câmara de Lobos, the southern coast and the sea. At Ribeira Brava we will make a short stop. Afterwards we pass by São Vicente, one of the oldest villages in the island, known for the picturesque streets and for the baroque style church.

6. 3 rd DAY – Porto Moniz Portugal Then we head to Seixal and reach Porto Moniz, well-known for the natural pools. The way back to Funchal will be trough Paúl da Serra, the island’s unique plateau (1.600m). Green in spring, brown in summer and nearly red in winter, delightful in every season.

7. 4 th DAY – Pico dos Barcelos, Eira do Serrado and Monte JC TOURS PORTUGAL Portugal On the way to Eira do Serrado (1.094m) we stop at the view point of Pico dos Barcelos (335m), from where we enjoy a magnificent view over the bay of Funchal. Then we go to Monte, a parish of Funchal, which is still nowadays a pilgrimage place. Here we will visit the famous church of Nossa Senhora do Monte, where we find the tombstone of Emperor Charles I of Austria. You will have the possibility of sliding in the famous typical toboggan. These toboggans are controlled through ropes, by men with straw hats, dressed in white and wearing leather boots and that slide us till Livramento.

8. JC TOURS 5 th DAY – Santana Portugal Camacha is a wicker work centre located in the eastern part of Funchal. Here you cannot only buy wicker work products, but also see the process of manufacturing. We will follow towards the Natural Park Ribeiro Frio. Here, we have the opportunity to taste a typical Madeirian drink, the so-called poncha (optional), made out of sugarcane brandy, honey and lemon juice, and to visit a trout farm. We continue towards Santana, where you can admire the typical thatched-roof houses.

9. JC TOURS 6 th DAY – Levada Vale Paraíso – Rochão JC TOURS PORTUGAL Portugal This levada starts at the east part of the island, in Vale Paraíso. This is a very easy walk through a levada between eucalyptus and pine trees. Depending on the season of the year, we may also enjoy during this walk the agapanthus and rhododendrons. The walk ends at Rochão.

10. JC TOURS 7 th DAY – Madeirian Dinner Portugal In a restaurant in the outskirts of Funchal you will taste the famous Espetada. These are grilled beef cubes on skewers. It will be served with crispy fried corn and the typical round and flat bread bolo do caco, made of wheat flour, from Hebraic origin, cooked over a basalt stone and traditionally covered with garlic butter. During dinner, you will get an impression of the Madeirian culture through the performance of a folklore group.
