APEC-CAST Primary objectives: Promote harmonized test procedures Support development of aligned energy efficiency standards and labels (S&L) in APEC economies Fund one or more projects each year over a 5 year period.

Review of Proposal Solicitation Objective: Identify projects that can be launched in 2013 and will advance S&L development in APEC economies. Collaboration between EGEE&C and SEAD: SEAD-funded APEC-CAST initiative Leverage technical expertise provided through the SEAD international technical collaborations Administrator: CLASP, as the SEAD Operating Agent.

2013 Project Solicitation ProjectScope Commercial Refrigeration: Technical evaluation of national and regional test methods Analyze and compare national and regional commercial refrigeration equipment definitions and test methods. Document the key performance parameters evaluated under different test conditions for each product. Network Standby: Real world usage of network-connected products Conduct field testing in volunteer households to examine network traffic patterns for devices in the home. Assess opportunities for energy savings by switching devices into low-power standby modes. Ongoing SEAD projects that could be expanded to the APEC region:

2013 Project Solicitation (cont’d) ProjectScope Televisions: Evaluation and testing of TVs with 3D technology Test TVs with 3D capability using IEC 62087 and Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) recommendations. Identify impacts on annual TV energy consumption and interactions with current and proposed test procedures. Televisions: The next big thing for TVs Assess energy/usage issues of known and anticipated TV technologies including IPTV and internet connected TVs. Identify scope of future developments for TVs and how these projected features could be addressed in energy efficiency policy measures. Ongoing SEAD projects that could be expanded to the APEC region:

2013 Project Solicitation (cont’d) ProjectScope Computers: International computer test standard toolkit Provide an overview of the IEC standard, the scope of covered products, and the benefits to governments and industry including acceptance of international test reports. Conduct workshops to introduce the toolkit to policymakers and test its usefulness in meeting individual country requirements. Motors: Evaluation of harmonized compliance certification and enforcement requirements and product scope expansion Analyze and compare regional, national, and international CC&E requirements. Recommend harmonized CC&E reporting requirements. Ongoing SEAD projects that could be expanded to the APEC region:
