5 CACM Editor-in-Chief: Moshe Vardi from Rice University New ACM Initiative to increase visibility of SIGs by every year publishing the best ideas from SIGs Venues Only selected SIGs are participating (went through proposal stage) and SIGMM is part of this Initiative SIGMM CACM Committee Technical Chairs of Sponsored SIGMM Conferences and Workshops of each year Selection Process Once a year Select the best idea in SIGMM venues to put it forward to CACM Deadline: September 30 each year

7 ACM Preservation Efforts Major Efforts on-going in ACM to preserve Important conference talks such as keynotes and best papers Past conference programs/websites History of SIGs SIGMM Efforts First informal preservation efforts have been done at ACM Multimedia 2007 in Augsburg, Germany Now History preservation chair as part of ACM Multimedia 2008 Organizational Committee (and after that every year) Matthias Hollick is our first chair Recording of keynotes and best paper awards session Recorded Videos are searchable and in ACM Digital Library

Conference Chair; Elected Term: change from 2 to 3 years Term Limits: Each SIG Office can serve up to two terms Establishment of Executive Committee Consisting of: SIG Officers, past SIGMM Chair, Editors-in-Chief for SIGMM Publication Venues (TOMCCAP, MMSJ, SIGMM E-Newsletter, SIGMM Web), One General Chair of ACM Multimedia of that year Appointment of Two Directors-at-Large Director-at-Large for Education Director-at-Large for Arts

11 SIGMM Retreat Go After New Multimedia Communities The new communities that we should consider /invite in SIGMM (topics in our venues) – Multimedia in Health care, assisted technologies - Multimedia for disabled – Ubiquituous multimedia – Multimedia security and privacy – Multimedia and social communities – Action: Put these topics into CFP for SIGMM Venues, on the web site (Chairs of ACM MM’09 and SIGMM Web EiC)
