EVŠ – RECORDS AND ANALYTICAL INFORMATION SYSTEM FOR HIGHER EDUCATION IN THE REPUBLIC OF SLOVENIA

eVŠ purpose eVŠ was developed for the purposes of: determining students’ eligibility to study and other rights chargeable to public funds, HE policy planning and the monitoring of the HE system, the monitoring of a network of HE institutions and study programmes, public information, and for research, analytical and statistical purposes, i.e. for the implementation of statistical, social and economic and other research activities in the area of HE.

eVŠ data eVŠ is comprised of database with the following records: HE institution records (HEIs) – national code list Study programme records – national code list Student and graduate records (from 2011/12, EMŠO) Records of calls for enrolment (from 2014/15) Records of persons registered for enrolment (from 2014/15) Records of persons who have applied for subsidised student accommodation (from 2012/13) HE provider records (HE professors). It also includes on-line application and support regarding the selection procedure for: applications for study to higher education study programmes, subsidised student accommodation applications.

eVŠ scope eVŠ birthday: 17 December 2012 For period 2011-2015 eVŠ comprised of over a million records on: student enrolment (995.178), mobility of students (22.585), HEIs (311 on 116 HEIs, i.e. 5 universities and 45 independent HEIs), study programmes (4.105 on 1.997 study programmes), enrolment applications (98.218), applications for subsidised dormitories (75.138). 7 Institutions using data on students and graduates from eVŠ

eVŠ users In 2015 eVŠ recorded 1.491.463 insights into data on students. –Students and graduates records in eVŠ are official source for information on student status used by public institutions that grant scholarships, subsidies for nutrition, transport, and dormitories, as well as health insurance, pensions, student work, employment agency. –Prevention of student enrolment that are no longer entitled to publicly financed full-time studies in tertiary education (both short cycle higher education and higher education). These actions reflect in reduced numbers of enrolled students that exceeded the expected impact due to demography. Total number of students decreased for 20.460 from academic year 2011/12 when 90.142 students were enrolled to academic year 2015/16 with 69.682 students Data on HE institution and study programmes include national code list used by databases of HE institutions, national statistical office, and other public institutions. Employment Service of Slovenia (http://ec.europa.eu/ploteus/en), The Centre of the Republic of Slovenia for Mobility and European Educational and Training Programmes (www.studyinslovenia.si)http://ec.europa.eu/ploteus/enwww.studyinslovenia.si Candidates who apply for enrolment or subsidised dormitories. In 2015 users filled 67.101 e-applications: 48.720 for enrolment and 18.381 for dormitories.

eVŠ plans By 2017, the aim is for the eVŠ to become an analytical tool to support evidence- based policy making in higher education available also to HEIs. Connect eVŠ data with data from other public records to analyse the path of students from secondary to tertiary education and on to the labour market. Improve user experience with eVŠ applications
