Legal and Ethical Issues

Societal Standards Sexism: Women are still considered to be the weaker sex by many men. Women make less money than men for the same job in many countries. Women are expected to do certain household chores because they are women by many men. If a woman is unfaithful, she is a whore; if a man does the same, he's a player. Etc….. All woman should be careful and watch behind their back. We should get rid of sexism, for all genders not just the girls. There is times when a guy is the subject of sexism as well and it is important to recognize that fact and accept that it can happen to anyone that way we can work together to stop it. Racism: Many people are racism and we need to stop it. Yes racism is wrong, as all people should be treated as equals, and there is no one supreme race or inferior race. All people are made of the same body parts, tissues, and organs, and therefore are just as equal and each are as valuable as the next person no matter what race they are. I love to make friends around the world and no matter what color they are. You are beautiful and be proud of who you are and don’t listen to other who hate you. Homophobia: Everyone around the world are different and they like what they do and you just have to treat then equal. Some may appear to be homophobic in order to hide their own desires towards the same sex. They may be ashamed or feel like their feelings are wrong, so in order to feel better or right about themselves they project hate towards the issue. It's just one way of coping with how you feel whenever you believe what you are feeling is wrong. Everyone should love themselves and be proud.

Stop Prejudices Education for the children to learn is what they are taught and what they see. If parents permit violent video games and don't help children to understand the difference between pretend and reality (in which people are hurt and die); if movies and popular culture continue to make violence through special effects that become more destructive and gory with every new release; if we as a society don't make an effort to stop prejudice then they won't stop. To work on preventing such things, then, we need to start teaching compassion, concern for others, respect, caring for ourselves and others. I think setting an example for others is the best way we can prevent children from carrying on these traits. Children do as they see, not necessarily what they are told so parents, teachers, and other adults in their lives have the biggest influence in their lives to help them see that they should not do these things even if they see it on TV or others doing so. My mother and father taught me to respect all people and to accept and appreciate differences in others. I taught my sisters and brother the same lesson in life. Now my siblings are teaching their friends to respect others and accept and even appreciate differences in others. It is a cycle that I hope will always continue. Parents are responsible for teaching (modeling) the correct behavior towards others. Unfortunately, I do not know that we can prevent our youth from discrimination, prejudice or violence, but we can certainly help them to learn right from wrong. I think that prejudice will always exist, in some form, no matter what we do. However, I agree with the posts that say we need to model good behavior and teach the youth about good character. Personally, I did not have the best role models growing up, but in spite of that, or because of that, I am very aware that everyone is an individual and has a right to be treated that way. No one should be "lumped" into a certain category because of their skin color, race or religion. Lastly, I think that as teachers, we can help our students to understand what it feels like to be the one discriminated against or pre-judged...then maybe, they will not do it in the future.

Rating Systems We have game or other technology rating due to parental advisement. It's a way for parents to know what kind of things their kids are playing and if it may have content that they may not approve of. So like if a parent sees a game rated M and their kid is only 14 or younger, they will probably be hesitant before buying the game for their kid. So it lets parents know what age group the game is meant for. Same reason why we have movie ratings. It gives a rating as to how gruesome the game may be and warns parents about any things they may not want their children to see or hear. Some ratings cannot be sold or shown to the public, so it is also important for the companies to understand the ratings and how they will effect their sales. People don't usually buy what can't be easily obtained. Some kids are just too young to see some of the m rated stuff. they shouldn't be exposed to it quite yet, and these things are rated by professionals and they exist for a reason. when kids are like hookers, or violence, they don't know better, so they will eventually try to emulate that lifestyle and it’s definitely not good! I’m glad that my siblings are not playing older games at their young age and only play games at their age. To all the parents be careful and protect your kid from what they’re doing what in the video games or television and keep in mind if it’s bad then don’t let them play or watch so they don’t cause big trouble.

Safety and Possible Consequences of Web Postings Well I think it safe where you have your own network from where you live, and not everyone can access your profile and I think also Facebook doesn't sent your information if you sent a friend request and not many stalkers lurk in Facebook. Also there's a lot of safe fun apps you can use unlike Myspace and your profile is also private, because Facebook has settings that allow you to choose if your Facebook profile can be viewed to others but I’m not to sure about it and I no some kids make fake account and some kid are lost by some stranger on Facebook because they make fake account and to the parents you have to be careful. I know lots of kid at young age like 8- 12 have Facebook and it kind of worrisome because they’re young. Be carful before posting pictures because there law of libel and maybe they can sue you. Some people got hacked and they’re scared and it happen to me before and I quit. Some teen have been bully be the people how hate them and some started to commit suicide and it really got to stop and be very careful what you say and post.
