26 Transverse instability is a very vital problem in RPA process and also a fundamental physical problem in the laser solid interaction field. Fortunately, we have obtained a reasonable explanation to clarify the physical mechanism within it. It is shown that the density ripples are more likely induced by the coupling between the transverse oscillating electrons and quasi-static ions within this layer. The predictions of the mode structure and its growth rates have good agreements with the results obtained from the PIC simulations Brief summary 26 RegimeConditionMode structure (k) SA HB LS
