2. 2005 SAT Results 2005 SAT Results Manheim Township continued to lead Lancaster County while remaining well above both state and national averages. The district ranked 13th among Pennsylvania’s 501 districts. High school principal David Hanna attributed the scores to a competent staff and appropriate course content.

3. Joey Rider Schaeffer Elementary School Pennsylvania Presidential Award Finalist The Schaeffer Elementary science teacher was selected as a Pennsylvania state finalist for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science. Few Pennsylvania elementary school teachers were eligible to receive a Presidential Award, the nation’s highest honor for math and science teachers.

4. Strategic Plan Mid-Point Review On September 30, the district submitted a mid-point review of its six- year Strategic Plan to the Pennsylvania Department of Education. The review included a summary of 2002-2005 and revised goals and objectives through 2008. The review also contained an updated teacher induction plan and professional education plan.

5. School Community Rallies to Help Katrina Victims Students, staff and parents in every Manheim Township building answered the call to aid their peers in the Gulf Coast region. Schools raised monetary donations, collected canned goods, toiletries and school supplies and wrote letters to children in the affected areas. Manheim Township also became home several families of evacuees, including 40+ members of the Edwards family, who have received media attention on the Today Show and other programs.

6. Manheim Township Earns Gold Medal Status in National Magazine Expansion Management named Manheim Township among the best districts in the nation for companies looking to expand or relocate. The district ranked in the top 16 percent from a field of over 2,800. Criteria for the award included test scores and graduation rate.
