People with Learning Disabilities (PWLD)are at greater risk of experiencing psychological difficulties The risk factors for psychological difficulties affect a greater proportion of PWLD than people without LD Medicalisation of behaviour Diagnostic overshadowing Attributions made about PWLD Institutional to community care – what has changed?

4 Quality Education for a Healthier Scotland NES – What we did Educational resource aimed at Support Workers was published by NES 2014 Focus on Improving Practice through Positive Behavioural Support NES decided to roll out a training programme Trainers recruited from throughout Scotland to facilitate the use of the resource with support workers in their own area of practice.

6 Quality Education for a Healthier Scotland The Resource Improving Practice – Supporting people with learning disabilities whose behaviour is perceived as challenging Educational Resource The resource is for Support Workers who work with people with learning disabilities who may display behaviours perceived as challenging.
