3. Ho Chi Minh Nationalist and Communist leader who had fought off the Japanese. Became a hero after the Indochina War. Would eventually lead North Vietnam.

8. Viet Cong The National Liberation Front (Viet Cong) were the rebels attempting to over throw South Vietnam’s government. Resourceful soldiers that used guerilla warfare.

9. Guerillas Small groups of loosely organized soldiers who conducted surprise attacks.

12. The War Becomes Bleak The Tet Offensive turns many Americans against the war effort. Civilian deaths create opposition to the war. Protests begin to spring up all around the United States. The US cannot break the will of the Viet Cong.

15. Khmer Rouge The Khmer Rouge murdered 1/4 of the entire population of Cambodia in under four years. The goal was for them to cleanse their country of the West through genocide in Cambodia. The Vietnamese drove out their leader, Pol Pot, and took control of Cambodia.
