4 4 Introduction Research Background High-tech companies face the challenges of increased competition and a highly unpredictable business environment, they are seeking a new ways to evaluate performance and meet their goals. (Missroon, 1999)

5 5 Introduction Research Background The BSC(Balanced Scorecard) is a highly effective tool for helping corporations in their decision-making processes. (Missroon, 1999)

7 7 Introduction Research Background In light of its potential effectiveness, the BSC model continues to be revised and updated in order to enhance its applicability to different corporations and operating environments. (Cobbold & Lawrie, 2002)

8 8 Introduction Purpose of the Study 1.To utilize the BSC to analyze the business process reengineering efforts of high-tech companies. 2.To determine whether it is an effective strategic management tool.

9 9 Introduction Limitations and Delimitations 1.No primary data were gathered from the companies or employees themselves. 2.This study only conducted a primary case study analysis of the specific high-tech corporation.

11 11 Literature Review Conceptual Framework of the BSC - Definition The BSC is a strategic management tool for company strategy and key performance, a balance in five major parts. (Kaplan & Norton, 1992)

12 12 Literature Review Conceptual Framework of the BSC - Origins and Evolution of BSC YearEvent 1988 KPMG designed a performance evaluation system for APPLE. 1990 Research plan called “evaluation of future organization performance” completed. 1992 The project published in Harvard Business Review. The development of four perspectives. 1999 Innovation and learning rename to learning and growth.

18 18 Methodology Research Design A case study analysis of high-tech corporations, and focus on the business re-engineering efforts conducted by the corporation during the early to late 1990s, the efforts to reverse ongoing financial losses.

19 19 Methodology Data Collection Data and information of this research were collected from articles on journals and the Internet.

20 20 Methodology Data Analysis 1.The strategic objectives and business re-engineering efforts for the company was presented. 2.These efforts were analyzed within the four perspectives.
