3 How Does It Work in Practice? “ Flag and Follow” approach Transition Issues Student identified with potential issues approached by academic dept. Refer to specialist or academic help as required

4 How Does It Work in Practice? Refer (Flag) to Student Support Advisors to follow up Student Support Plan created with student Follow up to ensure it is working

5 Result of the initial pilot Number of students referred Outcomes Bonus benefits Even if student is not retained still good for reputation – adds to student experience Positive and supported exit where that is the best option for that student

6 Further Development Further academic schools 2013-14 Attended school boards to publicise Self referrals from students via our new Enquiry Centre (opened August 2014) Referrals started to come in from more schools Initial slow uptake in 2014-15

7 Looking Forwards Continuing to build 2015-16 Increase marketing and visibility Working with Careers as part of any exit strategy Keep in contact in following academic year Fits into University’s Retention Strategy

9 Stay-on-Course at QMU University wide Attendance Monitoring Project (AMP) introduced in 2015/16 Data available on “at risk” students WISeR funds Stay-on-Course pilot in Semester 2 of 2015-16 Wellbeing Adviser 20 hours per week
