2015 Curriculum Changes for Interior Design at JCCC Darla Green

How do you know when curriculum needs to change?

 When the program is no longer serving the needs of the community in it’s current format. This could be due to a variety of things – changes in the market, changes in technology etc…  Our Curriculum should be on a rotation and updated to stay current as our industry incorporates, Marketing, Management, Design, Products and Technology. This idea of rotation will vary from program to program. For example: Interior Design should be updated more frequently than say - math which might be a lot longer time frame.

 Program review results will be a valuable resource in seeing what curriculum needs to be updated. How do you know when curriculum needs to change?

Defining the purpose of your Program.  For our program, we wanted to serve our community by providing multiple pathways for students to achieve their goals.  These pathways needed to be usable and stackable.  We looked at our data in combination with serving our community and came up with the follow program objectives.
