3. What did ESCalate do ? Supported teaching development with pedagogy and practice grants and research grants of £5,000 and £10,000 respectively. Examples include: Steve Rose – mobile devices supporting students learning John Twidle – internet in science ITE John McCullagh – video to support reflection on teaching Julie Hughes – electronic teaching portfolios Debbie Holley – Flip cameras with student teachers Aileen Mc Guigan – sharing practice with ICT in ITE

5. Recent commissioned work Working with diverse groups of learners in the digital age – http://escalate.ac.uk/digitalage Publication builds on 3 years of practitioner-focussed workshops. Case studies i.e. 'stories' from practice from HE teachers about their use of e-learning to support their diverse groups of learners. The practitioners (and their hybrid practices) who responded to the call are as diverse in their digital pedagogies as are their digital learners. The case studies offer lessons on trial and error and resilience and powerful examples of how teachers and learners were experiencing transformation through risk and experimentation.

Working with diverse groups of learners in the digital age Deployed to develop students’ skills, encourage collaborative and cooperative learning, supporting student transition, to track portfolio building and evidence generation, to develop professional learning opportunities and to support scenario-based learning.
