© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Introduction 3 In the summer of 2016 the Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition used by Alma Analytics is being upgraded from version 11.1.1.7 to version 11.1.1.9 One major catalyst for this change was to increase the amount of lines which may be exported from Alma Analytics to a csv file. There are however several additional useful features which are introduced with this new version, and we will review some of them here.

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Introduction 4 Before After

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary 5 1.Introduction 2.Save and reuse column formulas 3.Search and sort options 4.Creating a new measure 5.Treemap visualization 6.Print and export options 7.Adding options to refresh, print and export to dashboards 8.Table view properties from compound layout 9.Save and reuse column formulas 10.New preview options 11.Copy text from results tab http://image.shutterstock.com/z/stock-photo-business-hand-writing-blank-agenda-list-130255148.jpg

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Save and reuse column formulas 6 This allows the staff user to define columns and calculations in the criteria tab of the report and then save them for re-use in other reports. This saves a lot of time by not needing to redefine the same formula in multiple reports (and look up how it was done previously so it can be copied). This is done by using the new "Save Column As" option Once a column is saved it can be used again in the criteria tab by dragging it (or double clicking) from the left pane in the folder where it was saved to the right pane

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Multiple local customizations were made to create this field Save and reuse column formulas 7 Here the user has designed his own field in the Fulfillment subject area. It combines the library and location, separates them with three dashes, and makes the column header red bold:

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Save and reuse column formulas 8 Here is the customized column

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Save and reuse column formulas 9 Now from the criteria tab we can choose the new option “Save Column As”

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Save and reuse column formulas 10 Then we save it

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Save and reuse column formulas 11 Then we make a new analysis we can choose this “pre-made” and “pre-designed” field

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Save and reuse column formulas 12 It already has all of the customizations we already made on it

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Save and reuse column formulas 13 We can use it like any other field

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Save and reuse column formulas 14 The results contain the configuration which was already made and saved

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary 15 1.Introduction 2.Save and reuse column formulas 3.Search and sort options 4.Creating a new measure 5.Treemap visualization 6.Print and export options 7.Adding options to refresh, print and export to dashboards 8.Table view properties from compound layout 9.Save and reuse column formulas 10.New preview options 11.Copy text from results tab http://image.shutterstock.com/z/stock-photo-business-hand-writing-blank-agenda-list-130255148.jpg

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Search and Sort options in the subject area 16 This is a new option which allows the user to search inside the subject area in the “criteria” tab. This is activated by clicking the magnifying glass The user can search for fields and folders rather than scrolling through all the folders – Big Timesaver It is also possible to use the % wildcard.

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Search and Sort options in the subject area 17 Here we have searched for "Licens%" and the results include "License" and "Licensor" at the beginning, middle and end of the field and folder.

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Search and Sort options in the subject area 18 It is also possible to sort the folders inside the subject area Another big time saver when browsing the many folders and fields available in Alma Analytics.

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Search and Sort options in the subject area 19 Now we have sorted the folders in alphabetical order

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Search and Sort options in the subject area 20 The sort effects both the folders as well as fields in each folder. Now we will sort “Z to A”

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Search and Sort options in the subject area 21 Now the folders and the fields within the folders are sorted Z to A

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary 22 1.Introduction 2.Save and reuse column formulas 3.Search and sort options 4.Creating a new measure 5.Treemap visualization 6.Print and export options 7.Adding options to refresh, print and export to dashboards 8.Table view properties from compound layout 9.New preview options 10.Copy text from results tab http://image.shutterstock.com/z/stock-photo-business-hand-writing-blank-agenda-list-130255148.jpg

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Creating a new measure 23 The Results tab contains a new icon for creating a new measure. The measure is created via the column formula. Here in the “Alma Link Resolver” subject area we have the “Number of requests” and “Number of services” for LC Classification code Z. We will use them to create a new third measure. We will click here to create a new measure surry

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Creating a new measure 24 Now we make a new measure which is “Number of Requests” + “Number of Services” Simply choose the fields, move to the column formula, and choose mathematical operation

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Creating a new measure 25 Now we have a new “homemade” measure This allows for visualizing data in new ways, ultimately allowing us to make proper data driven decisions.

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Creating a new measure 26 And it can be used, for example, in a graph

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary 27 1.Introduction 2.Save and reuse column formulas 3.Search and sort options 4.Creating a new measure 5.Treemap visualization 6.Print and export options 7.Adding options to refresh, print and export to dashboards 8.Table view properties from compound layout 9.New preview options 10.Copy text from results tab http://image.shutterstock.com/z/stock-photo-business-hand-writing-blank-agenda-list-130255148.jpg

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Treemap Visualization 28 Treemap is a visualization which groups the data in tiles. By default each title size is based on the first measure in the report, while each title color is based on the second measure in the report. This is useful for comparing measures, such as number of loans versus number of loan days, or speed of vendor verses average price of item at vendor. This can be used to get an accurate analysis of complex data

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Treemap Visualization 29 Here for example we have the number of loans and number of loan days (number of days between the loan date and the return date) for loans made in the last month per institution in a consortium. Leuven Network

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Treemap Visualization 30 We will add a Treemap visualization

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Treemap Visualization 31 The ‘Loans’ measure is grouped by size, while the ‘Loan Days’ measure is grouped by color. (see bottom left) Thus “Central College” and “The J and S Technical University” are the same size, because they are both in the top quartile of loans But.. “Central College” and “The G.E. Technical Institute” are the same color because they are both in the top quartile of loan days A mouse rollover shows both measures simultaneously (and this can be configured in the “properties) As is seen in the next screen:

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Treemap Visualization 32

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Treemap Visualization 33 Now we will look at an example comparing the average time it takes for a vendor to send ordered material with the average price of an item from that vendor. Perhaps, for example, we want to see if the “fast” vendors are also the “most expensive” vendors

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Treemap Visualization 34 We can see on the next screen that “Yilis Buch Gmbh – Bozen” and “Alte Muhle Sforim” are the fastest. We see this by size. But …, “Yilis Buch Gmbh – Bozen” is the most expensive in the top quartile by itself. The library may therefore consider that even though it is “fast” the high price may not be worth it.

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Treemap Visualization 35

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary 36 1.Introduction 2.Save and reuse column formulas 3.Search and sort options 4.Creating a new measure 5.Treemap visualization 6.Print and export options 7.Adding options to refresh, print and export to dashboards 8.Table view properties from compound layout 9.New preview options 10.Copy text from results tab http://image.shutterstock.com/z/stock-photo-business-hand-writing-blank-agenda-list-130255148.jpg

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Print and export options 37 New features have been added to the “Print and Export options” (formerly called “Print options”). There is now a feature to include custom orientation settings for both PPT and PDF formats. It is also possible to configure whether or not to include charts and images, as well as the formatting. Additionally, there are new column options, such as wrapping text and limiting column width.

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Print and export options 38 11.1.1.9 “Print & Export Options” 11.1.1.7 “Print Options”

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Print and export options 39 11.1.1.7 11.1.1.9 New

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Print and export options 40 The analysis includes a table and a graph.

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Print and export options 41 In the first example we want the graph to not print, the table to print, and we want it in pdf landscape. Note in next slide that when choosing “Orientation Custom” additional radio buttons for PDF and PPT open, allowing the user to choose “Portrait” or “Landscape”. (In 11.1.1.7 there was no option to differentiate by format)

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Print and export options 42 We have chosen not to include “Charts” We have PDF Landscape

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Print and export options 43 The result is a PDF in landscape format without the bar graph (chart)

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Print and export options 44 We have chosen to include “Charts” We have PDF Landscape Now we change the configuration

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Print and export options 45 The result is a PDF in landscape format with the bar graph (chart)

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Print and export options 46 Now we have chosen to narrow the fixed column width to 60 pixels Now we change the configuration again

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Print and export options 47 Table column widths have changed to 60 pixels Now we have chosen to narrow the fixed column width to 60 pixels

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary 48 1.Introduction 2.Save and reuse column formulas 3.Search and sort options 4.Creating a new measure 5.Treemap visualization 6.Print and export options 7.Adding options to refresh, print and export to dashboards 8.Table view properties from compound layout 9.New preview options 10.Copy text from results tab http://image.shutterstock.com/z/stock-photo-business-hand-writing-blank-agenda-list-130255148.jpg

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary 49 Here on the bottom of the dashboard there are no option to refresh, print or export the page Adding options to refresh, print and export to dashboards

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary 50 Via the icon on the top right we edit the dashboard Adding options to refresh, print and export to dashboards

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary 51 Then we will choose “Page report links” Adding options to refresh, print and export to dashboards

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary 52 Then we can customize the report links. Here, for example, we add “Export”, “Refresh” and “Print” Adding options to refresh, print and export to dashboards

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Adding options to refresh, print and export to dashboards 53 Now save and rerun the dashboard. The bottom of the page includes the desired links. Below we have clicked “Export” and see the various “Export” options.

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary 54 1.Introduction 2.Save and reuse column formulas 3.Search and sort options 4.Creating a new measure 5.Treemap visualization 6.Print and export options 7.Adding options to refresh, print and export to dashboards 8.Table view properties from compound layout 9.New preview options 10.Copy text from results tab http://image.shutterstock.com/z/stock-photo-business-hand-writing-blank-agenda-list-130255148.jpg

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Table View Properties from Compound Layout 55 Before version 11.1.1.9 the table and graph properties could only be accessed from within edit mode (after clicking the pencil icon from results tab). In 11.1.1.9 the Table View Properties can be accessed directly from the Compound Layout (results tab). This saves extra clicks, which means saving valuable time.

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Table View Properties from Compound Layout 56 11.1.1.7 From results tab only these three options are available

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Table View Properties from Compound Layout 57 11.1.1.9 From results tab only these four options are available

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Major time saver to now access the properties directly from the results tab Table View Properties from Compound Layout 58 In 11.1.1.7 the “View Properties” option was only available after clicking the pencil icon to edit the graph and then clicking “View Properties” in the resulting top toolbar.

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Table View Properties from Compound Layout 59

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary 60 1.Introduction 2.Save and reuse column formulas 3.Search and sort options 4.Creating a new measure 5.Treemap visualization 6.Print and export options 7.Adding options to refresh, print and export to dashboards 8.Table view properties from compound layout 9.New preview options 10.Copy text from results tab http://image.shutterstock.com/z/stock-photo-business-hand-writing-blank-agenda-list-130255148.jpg

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary New preview options 61 OBIEE 11.1.1.9 now offers different style options to preview an analysis. Each style differs (sometimes only slightly) in color scheme, style and formatting. The main new preview options are Skyros (which is the default style), SkyrosCloud and Fuse.

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary New preview options 62 When previewing an analysis in the Results tab there are different options to view the results. Here is how it looked before version 11.1.1.9. Just one default option

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary New preview options 63 Here is the default

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary New preview options 64 Here is the blafp

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary New preview options 65 Here is the Fuse

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary New preview options 66 Here is the Skyros

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary New preview options 67 Here is the Skyros Cloud

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary 68 1.Introduction 2.Save and reuse column formulas 3.Search and sort options 4.Creating a new measure 5.Treemap visualization 6.Print and export options 7.Adding options to refresh, print and export to dashboards 8.Table view properties from compound layout 9.New preview options 10.Copy text from results tab http://image.shutterstock.com/z/stock-photo-business-hand-writing-blank-agenda-list-130255148.jpg

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Copy text from results tab 69 In 11.1.1.7 if we wanted to copy a field, such as a barcode or MMSID, from the results tab we had to first export the results, then copy. There was no way to copy directly from the results tab. Time was wasted first exporting the report and then copying the text. Now the text can be directly copied from the results tab of the report

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Copy text from results tab 70 From the results tab we select the text (in this case a title) and do “ctrl+c”

© 2015 Ex Libris | Confidential & Proprietary Copy text from results tab 71 We can then paste it into Alma (or anywhere else) and search
